Jiksak Bioengineering, Inc. announced that Nori Yumoto, Ph.D., Co-CEO and Chief Scientific Officer, was invited as a session speaker at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference® (AAIC) 2026, held July 12–15 in London, United Kingdom.
Dr. Yumoto presented Jiksak’s Neuron Drug Delivery System (NDDS) in the session, “Emerging Approaches to Targeted Delivery of Protein and Oligonucleotide Therapeutics for Neurodegenerative Diseases.”
His presentation, “A Novel BBB-Bypassing Strategy Using Synaptotagmin 2-Targeted Neuron DDS for Selective Delivery of Therapeutic Payloads to Neurons,” highlighted Jiksak’s approach to using Synaptotagmin 2 (SYT2) and synaptic vesicle recycling as a gateway for selective neuronal uptake.
“We are honored to have been invited to present our work at AAIC, one of the world’s leading conferences in Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegenerative research,” said Nori Yumoto, Co-CEO and CSO of Jiksak Bioengineering. “Efficient and selective delivery to neurons remains a fundamental challenge for many promising therapeutic modalities. We believe our Neuron DDS platform provides a differentiated approach by accessing neurons through the peripheral nervous system and transporting therapeutic payloads toward the CNS without relying on conventional BBB-crossing mechanisms.”
Preclinical studies demonstrated functional delivery of antisense oligonucleotides to spinal motor neurons and brainstem neurons in mice. In non-human primates, NDDS showed uptake at the neuromuscular junction and retrograde transport toward neuronal cell bodies, supporting cross-species translatability.
Jiksak is continuing to advance NDDS as a neuron-selective delivery platform for oligonucleotides and other therapeutic modalities, with potential applications across neurodegenerative diseases.
