Jiksak Bioengineering, Inc. announced that it was selected as a finalist in the NIKKEI Drug Discovery Startup Pitch, held as part of The 2nd NIKKEI Drug Discovery Ecosystem Summit organized by Nikkei Inc.
The summit was held on July 8–9, 2026, in Tokyo, bringing together leaders from government, the pharmaceutical industry, academia, startups, and the investment community to discuss innovation and the future of Japan’s drug discovery ecosystem.
Jiksak presented its proprietary Neuron Drug Delivery System (NDDS), a platform designed to enable systemic delivery of therapeutic payloads to neurons by utilizing the peripheral nervous system as entry points, enabling therapeutic molecules to be selectively taken up into neurons and transported intracellularly before reaching the central nervous system for CNS delivery.
Being selected as a finalist provided Jiksak with an opportunity to introduce its neuron-targeted delivery technology to stakeholders across Japan’s drug discovery ecosystem and to highlight the potential of NDDS to support the development of new therapeutics for neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.
Jiksak will continue to advance the NDDS platform and pursue collaborations with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to expand its application across therapeutic modalities and neurological indications.
